Winter

I love living in a place that has the four (4) "real" seasons. We have the extremes of heat and the cold. We enjoy the promise that spring brings and the nostalgia that comes with fall. Every season is my favorite!

That said, I expect winter to be winter. None of this "mild winter" stuff. I hear people talking about how wonderful this winter has been. I totally disagree. I want a major winter storm. I want to have the anticipation of the snow, the crazy predictions, the excitement. I want to watch the snow arrive and then gradually accumulate. I want to wake up in the morning to a world that has stopped for just a bit.

Alas, each week I watch for the announcement. Each week I'm disappointed. I see "snow showers" or "rain", but no major storms. Unfortunately ( or maybe not!) I have no control over the weather. And so I wait, not so patiently, for the forecast to show that a snow storm is on its way. It's mid-February so I feel like the chances are quickly slipping away. However, I tell myself that it can still happen. Spring is still weeks away. Puxatawny Phil saw his shadow and winter is hanging around for a while. There is still hope!

If we don't get that major storm? It's been known to happen. I'll anticipate the winter storm of next winter!
